joep stevens

Managing Director

Joep is an expert in procurement and logistics. Being Dutch, based in France for 12 years, working for multinational corporations made him very experienced in working with different nationalities and cultures. Being a successful negotiator and innovator he was given the responsibility to develop and execute the raw material strategy for Georgia Pacific, one of the largest tissue producers in the world, managing a over 1 million tons pulp portfolio.

After his studies in 1986 Joep chose a career in the transportation business. First at Frans Maas in Venlo and after that at Ewals Cargo Care he managed European truck flows and had his first encounters with the commercial side of the logistic business. When he switched to the paper production business of Kimberly Clark in Gennep in 1988 his commercial and supply chain competencies further expanded. After he accepted a position at Georgia Pacific, again in the tissue production business, he took increasing responsibilities in the order fulfilment chain. Before his more to procurement in 1999 he completely re-engineered the whole flow from order intake to Demand Management, Planning and Customer Delivery for the Dutch tissue business of Georgia Pacific.

In 1990 he was asked by the local management team to handle the mill procurement. To counter the disappointing entities’ results he successfully developed and executed the ‘quick and dirty’ program, an aggressive scheme to push suppliers to reduce the purchasing spent. His creative way of approaching processes and his proactive attitude did not get un-noticed by Georgia Pacific’s management and Joep was asked to move to Kunheim France in 2004 to take a leading position in the European raw materials procurement.

After integrating the European Fibre Procurement function Joep was given the lead of the Georgia Pacific Global Fibre Procurement in 2008, still based in Kunheim France. As global director of Fibre Procurement he led GP’s raw material procurement into a world class position having the best conditions of the industry and a solid supply network. In 2015 Joep took over the leadership of ‘De EENDRAGT’ after a short period in Switzerland where he worked for SIG combibloc.

Over his career Joep took part in several different high level management training programs as the ‘European Management Forum’ and Georgia Pacific’s (Koch) MBM program. He showed himself a strong supporter of Market Bases Management; Koch business philosophy that has been extremely successful for the Koch Industry businesses.

Joep is a (commodity) procurement expert and has a proven track record of constant innovation and generating creative ideas. His move to France and working with the numerous nationalities within both GP and his supply base made him a multicultural specialist. He is fluent in English, Dutch, German and French. From Jan 1 he is living and working from Zaandam where de Eendragt is located. During his involvement in Alliancell, the volume has been growing significantly. Customers are benefitting from improved conditions, more flexibility and occasion spot and hedging opportunities.
